Brazil set to launch stage three of Accelerated Growth Programme

Brazil is making preparations to launch the third phase of its Accelerated Growth Programme (PAC 3), according to O Globo.  Launched in 2007 by former-President Lula (pictured above) and continued by his successor, Dilma Rousseff, the first two phases of the programme have so far seen almost 1.3 trillion reais (US$540 billion) spent by government on improving the country’s infrastructure.

PAC3 is expected to focus on improving broadband internet networks in the country as well as strengthening existing infrastructure like roadways.  Spending on the improvement of public transportation and urban mobility is of particular interest to President Rousseff, who faces election this year, as it addresses one of the key demands aired by protesters in Brazil last July. – See more at: http://www.ecohousegroup.com
